| Monterey Bay Aquarium This aquarium site is terrific. It lists all of the upcoming events, has information on conservation and research programs, and specific information on a wide variety of marine life. They also have 6 live feeds where you can see what's going on in the Kelp Forest, the penguin, otter, shark tanks, and more. If you're having a stressful day, there's nothing more relaxing than watching some lovely sea creatures swimming gracefully. They even list the feeding times when the cams are likely to catch more action. (Sighted by Carrie Sherrill) | Ban Comic Sans As someone who will sheepishly admit to having once done her RESUME in Comic Sans (oh faux pas!), I found this whimsical site, hell-bent on forever irradicating the offending font, to be quite humorous. (Sighted by Lori Piquet) | Acme Chophouse This is one of those instances where something simple has been made overly complicated. Call me crazy, but if I'm going to a Web site for a restaurant, I pretty much want to know two things--where the heck it is, and what's on the menu. Any other information including directions, photos, reservation info, etc, I pretty much see as gravy. This site has all that and more--but buried in a too-fancy site. When I click on something that says "menu" I expect the menu to appear, not a popup with a picture and more links--four clicks it took to get a menu. Oy! Frankly, you lost me at having to click on an "About Acme" link to get the address of the place--that should have been on the home page. (Sighted by Carrie Sherrill) | Biology Browser Though its target audience is professional scientists, I suspect this is the kind of site that would come in handy for everyone at least once in awhile. A great place to find obscure, technical minutiae about flora and fauna the world over. Mainly though I picked this site because the front door is an excellent example of portal-style design. The page hierarchy is flat and the search is large and boldly positioned in the top left. Of course, it doesn't hurt any that there's no commercial advertising to compete for screen real estate.
