| Transportation Futuristics If you're old enough to remember the delicious anticipatory feeling of getting a new Popular Science magazine, you'll love this site, which commemorates the futuristic transportation ideas people have had over the last century. Some are still possible, others are just laughable, but they're all entertaining. If there's one problem with this site, it's that the text in some of the scanned images is too difficult to read. The site for 2004 wasn't available yet, but it's interesting to see that a couple of these barely one-year-old inventions have already become ubiquitous. (Sighted by Russell Jones) | How Stuff Works If you ever wondered how something works, try this site. The entire site is dedicated to providing high-level explanations grouped into categories such as "Science Stuff," "Electronic Stuff," "Health Stuff," and so forth. While you won't find in-depth information about most of the topics, if all you need is an overview, this site can provide it. The search engine is somewhat quirky. I entered "VB.NET" into the search field and got back a page full of ads and a list of unrelated links ranging from "How Nintendo DS Works" to "How Bigfoot Might Work." Despite its search difficulties, browsing the site is guaranteed to teach you something you don't already know. This site, by two brothers, has two of the best animated political pieces I've ever seen. No matter which side of the aisle you call home, there's something for you to sing along with here.
